first week of life

Miss Cherry Pound Cake 1.6 lbs and Miss Buttermilk Pound Cake 1.10 lbs
Celine was much larger on day 48 and seamed to have gotten smaller after that.
We believe she might have reabsorbed some of her pups,
but we are so blessed to have both of these girls.
Blessed with all the homes that have chosen to patiently wait for an Amorosa companion.
They help themselves to ALL the nutriments they want, but one more so then the other. Guess who?

Yup, that's Miss Buttermilk eating like there's no tomorrow!
And then Miss Buttermilk is the first one, seeking comfort on her tummy ;)
Or venturing off on her own, in less then 12 hours of being born.

Ok, day two and I couldn't help but naming/registering the Senorita's.

Amorosa's No Le Pegue A La Negra "Negra"
Amorosa's Dance Like There's No Tomorrow "Nena"
Why have we chosen these names?
(Many latin words are only as hurtful or affectionate, as the tone in your voice or manner in which its used)
Negra's name, means black in color or an affectionate latin nickname used for a female you adore.
No Le Pegue A La Negra is a song that reminds me of my Mom. We would always get up and dance
or rock the car from side to side, when ever we heard it,
it has a happy rhythm that makes you get up and dance.
It's a song that I request to hear anytime, anywhere its Latin night.
I get lost in dancing to it and of course I get tears of joy and memories of Mom.
It is difficult to listen to this song and stay seated!
It makes you want to "Dance Like There's No Tomorrow"
Joe Arroyo is one of the greatest, yet unknown, tropical musicians of all times.
His unique style, is a very interesting mixture of Caribbean, African and Latin rhythms, all in one.
One of his most famous songs is "Rebellion (No Le Pegue A La Negra)".
It is widely considered one of the greatest salsa songs of all time.
"La Estoria Negra" Rebellion: It tells a story of an abusive owner of slaves in the 1600's.
One day he chose to strike a slave woman and her husband "Rebelled" against him.
Although the song title is "Rebellion", most Latin's know it by its verse.
No Le Pegue A La Negra (Don't Strike The Black Woman)
Click, listen & enjoy the video that tells this story
& I won't be surprised if you start to dance ;)
Nena's call name, meaning baby-girl, female or an affectionate latin nickname for a female you adore
Nena's registration name: Dance Like There's No Tomorrow, was chosen because the way "Negra's"
registration/song name makes me feel. I was fortunate to find a song I enjoy and one that is sung by
another one of my childhood favorite artist. Paula Julie Abdul Grammy Award-winning American pop singer,
dancer, Emmy Award-winning choreographer, and television personality.
I grew up dancing to Paula's music and enjoyed watching her dance with the cat.
I admire Paula for all she endures from the media and yet still holds her head up and moves forward.
In life one must follow what inspires us.
Music and great artist, inspire me!
Like my dogs, music is always there to comfort me and give me joy.

Ok, their ribbons had to be changed today as they are getting plumper by the second ;)
Nena has a tidbit of white on her chest and white on the bottom of her pads.

Negra is just as her name indicates "Solid Black"
Nena & Negra after breakfast
Breakfast: Celine enjoys a huge frozen turkey neck, while Nena investigates.

Comparing my thumb to "Nena's" paw.
Celine drinking lots of ice water and getting plenty of rest.

Anaya was allowed to briefly care for the "Senorita's", while grandpa changed their bedding.
(This is not common practice for the dogs to be handled so young by Anaya, but these two are so tuff and firm
and she was not allowed to pick then up. The Senorita's crawled up Anaya's lap. Anaya had to be bathed before hand)

And here is Miss Anaya, she thinks she will be doing the cardiac checks ;)
Well Miss Anaya, ONLY a board certified cardiologist, for our puppies!
Not an amateur like you ;) nor a regular Veterinarian can give hearts a clean bill.
Below: is "Anaya" at 4 mths of age, caring for the "Precious Gem" litter, which the "Senorita's" is a repeat breeding of.
Oslo up top, Kongo down below
I mentioned to my husband that he needed to make those boys "work".
The men have invaded the family room and all they do is sleep.
Look at Courtney, freezing in the family room sofa.....hahaha...Dogs Rule!!!

Ok, they are for sure growing. Here they are in 15" X 23" basket.
I purchased a new larger basket, then my previous whelping basket.
I purchased a larger basket, expecting a large litter.
Well, these girls are six days old.
I don't think I could have fit more then two pups by the end of the week.
I realized that I purchased two pink baby receiving blankets, the day before Celine whelped.
And she had two girls ;).....hmmmm next time I'm getting a dozen blue and a dozen pink....just kidding!
Who else but Miss Nena, trying to reach out the basket.
And Miss Negra, she is a hot tamale!
The AC is blasted, the ceiling fan is on and I'm freezing.
But Miss Negra (who should be seeking heat) was stuck on the ice bowl.
Now we have Miss Negra, trying to place a take out order at the drive thru ;)
Negra was 2.14 lbs on day six (above)
Nena was 3.0 lbs on day six (above)

The Senorita's make themselves very comfortable ;)
On my cushion
In the whelping box or in the basket...."La Vida Es Buena"
Ah........Siesta time....Amigo's Y Amiga's
Two heads are better then one

Miss Negra, still trying to put in her drive-thru order.
But, I have had to limit their suckling time.
Celine is doing great and producing more milk then a cow.
They don't know when to stop suckling and are starting to look like "Manatees"
Well, tune in next week, until then drinks are on "Las Dos Senorita's"
