It has been a sad week since the day after these babies were born on the 10th of Jan.
On the night of the 11th, Nina returned into the house, from the back yard with a limp/front right
We assumed she slipped on the ice. We treated her and it seemed to have gotten better
On the 12th late night, Nina's rear end was lame. We took her to the Vet, x-rays negative, snap test positive, blood work high globulin.
Bad case of Lymes, which she has never had symptoms "weak & stressed" immune system from labor. Placed on antibiotic.
Most probably the cause of zero milk production. Grandma Tina & bottle feeding until Jan 17th, now Nina :)
On the 15th, We took Nina to acupuncture which I fully believe in and it relieved Nina of much discomfort.
Only to return home and find one of our babies choosing to leave us Mr. Peppermint.
He was unresponsive, unable to nurse & shallow to none breathing.
After a day of caring for him, veterinary advise & meds, homeopathic reading & remedies & The Great One "Tina Turner" grandma.
Mr. Peppermint has had no choice but to stay with us. We won't let him go :)))
Mr. Peppermint and Nina are doing remarkably well!
On the 16th, my daughter goes to the hospital to be induced.
Jan 17th, 2006...Still no grandbaby........Tomorrow is mom's birthday (God rest her soul), will my granddaughter be born on my Moms birthday.
On the 18th at 10 a.m. still no grandbaby and Mr. Peppermint was nursing wonderfully battling with his siblings for a teat and being given sub`q fluids, Meds, acupressure etc.
Then in the late afternoon Peppermint became unresponsive with shallow breathing again and constipated. We did everything with the vets on the phone, deep in my heart I knew he was leaving this time.
On the 18th at 5pm my daughters calls after over two full days of being in labor her water bag breaks. Now I must leave Mr. Peppermint to see my daughter through childbirth. My husband will nurse him and stimulate him to have bowels.
On the 19th after 56 hours of labor my daughter gives birth to a beautiful baby girl aka Junior handler.
And back at home Mr. Peppermint crosses the rainbow bridge at 5:30 am.........I will never forget him!
Its painful to loose a pup and you get over it when you loose them just minutes after birth, but to have them for 9 days and then they leave.....
At the end of every tunnel, there is a light....And in the end I will cry tears of Joy.
